At The Age Of 14, Bob The Street Cat Passed Away
Months ago we wrote an article about poor musician James and his cat, who have raised money by singing in the streets.
Their incredible connection has gone viral on the internet, attracting followers from all over the world. Bod not only changed James’s life, but he was also the inspiration for the hugely successful book and movie A Street Cat Named Bob.

Bob’s followers will be disappointed to learn that he died on Monday, June 15th, at the age of 14.
The book’s publisher, Hodder & Stoughton, confirmed the tragic news on Tuesday, with a heartfelt comment from author James Bowen on the book’s official Facebook page. His admirers were stunned and saddened by the news.

“As James and Bob proceeded to find followers all over the globe, Bob enjoyed a wonderful life meeting well-wishers at book signings, traveling the world, and dealing with feline stardom,” Hodder said in a statement. He was a very remarkable cat who will be sorely missed.”
James had a difficult life in the past, as he battled drug addiction. He was forced to live on the streets when his family and friends abandoned him. He ate garbage and tried to make a living by busking on the sidewalks.

But all changed when he met Bob, the ginger street cat that emerged out of nowhere in his life.
“Bob saved my life,” Bowen stated. That’s all there is to it. He provided me with so much more than just company. With him at my side, I was able to rediscover a sense of direction and purpose that I had been lacking. The success we’ve had as a team with our books and films has been extraordinary. He’s met hundreds of individuals and made a difference in millions of lives. He’s the first and only cat of his kind. And it will never happen again. In my life, I feel as if the light has gone out. He is someone I will never forget.”

Many people throughout the world have expressed their sorrow at Bob’s death. Bob went to paradise after crossing the rainbow bridge, but her spirit will live on through his owner and his followers all around the world. Bob the street cat, may you rest in peace, and the world will greatly miss your adorable face!
