Discover Wolfhound MRAP vehicle donated by UK to Ukraine to fight Russian troops

According to a video published on the Twitter account “Ukraine ധҽąքօղs Tracker” on May 29, 2022, Ukrainian soldiers train with the Wolfhound MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) vehicle donated by the United Kingdom from the British army inventory. During the training with the Wolfhound, Ukrainian soldiers also performed live-fire exercises using a 12.7mm heavy machine gun.

On April 7, 2022, the Army Recognition editorial team reported that the United Kingdom would deliver Mastiff MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) and Jackal Special Forces vehicles to Ukraine.

The Wolfhound is a six-wheeled variant of the Mastiff MRAP that was used by the British army to provide troops with increased protection as they support missions in high-threat areas. It enters into service with the British army in October 2010 and was deployed in Afghanistan to be used as a gun tractor and cargo vehicle.

UK confirms plans to supply Ukraine with heavily armoured patrol vehicles

The Wolfhound is part of the British army Tactical Support Vehicles (TSV) group along with the Husky 4×4 armored vehicle and the Coyote. The TSV fleet is used to accompany front-line patrols and carry essential combat supplies such as water and αммυиιтισи. The Coyote is a tactical support vehicle (TSV light) based on the HMT 600 6×6 chassis manufactured by the British company Supacat.

BATTLE WAGON

The layout of the Wolfhound consists of three main parts with the powerpack at the front, a crew cabin in the middle, and a cargo area at the rear. The vehicle has a crew of two including a driver and commander and can accommodate up to 10 military personnel. The protection of the vehicle consists of ballistic and вℓαѕтt armor. It has a length of 7.08m, a width of 2.74 m, and a height of 2.64M

The Wolfhound is based on a monocoque V-shaped chassis mounting a bullet-proof and вℓαѕт-proof body. The V-shaped design increases vehicle and crew survivability by deflecting an upward directed вℓαѕт from a landmine (or Improvised Explosive Device) away from the vehicle, while also presenting a sloped armor face. The sides and the front of the vehicle are also fitted with slat armor to increase protection against high-єχρℓσѕινє anti-tank (HEAT) attacks, as used by rocket-propelled ɢяєиα∂єs (RPG).

Britain will send armoured vehicles to bolster Ukraine's fightback against Russia

A ring-mount ωєαρσи station is mounted at the front top of the roof which can be armed with one 7.62mm or 12.7mm machine gun. The front of the turret is protected with armor plates.

The Wolfhound is powered by a Caterpillar C-7 diesel engine developing 330 hp coupled to a six-speed Allison 3500 SP series automatic transmission. It can reach a top speed of 90 km/h with a maximum cruising range of 670 km.
