German sensor provider Hensoldt has received two contracts to supply radars for future Philippine Navy patrol boats and corvettes.

Once installed, the radars are expected to bolster the navy’s surface surveillance and navigation capabilities.

One contract orders the delivery of Kelvin Hughes Mk11 SharpEye navigation radars for six 2,400-ton offshore patrol vessels.

Another contract will deliver the radars for two 3,200-ton corvettes.

Hensoldt is scheduled to deliver the radars to the navy in the next four years.

SharpEye Mk11s are approved by the International Maritime Organization, a multinational group that oversees naval shipping, related services, and environmental impacts.

The radar is compatible with integrated navigation bridge systems and is equipped with solid-state fiber materials for easy installation and long-term sturdiness.

Each SharpEye can be configured with tactical setups according to the customer’s mission requirements.

The agreements were awarded by South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), which serves as the primary contractor for the vessels’ production.
